Can anyone please confirm whether we are allowed to have blank scrap paper for workings in the March-21 remote exams?
I sat a remote exam last September and it was fine, as long as you showed the invigilator the paper before the exam, and you were seen tearing it up at the end. However I saw an email from ACCA that we wasn’t allowed paper in the March remote sitting and instead had to use the on-screen scratchpad??
February 15, 2021 at 2:38 pm #610500I raised a complaint to ACCA regarding this as I find it so unfair but the response I got was:
‘Sorry to inform you but as per ACCA policy , you won’t be allowed to use scrap paper otherwise the invigilator will cancel your exam.’
I wrote a pretty lengthy email and they responded with one line.
Don’t really understand how a toilet break is allowed and scrap paper isn’t. It’s really stressing me out as the on screen scratch pad is pretty useless and doesn’t allow you to write things down as fast as you could on actual paper and in the way you would want to see it. It’s really unfair.
February 18, 2021 at 8:37 pm #610888I’ve just found this out and actually cannot believe it. I’ve written a complaint and stated that whoever came up with this rule for remote exams definitely does not understand what it actually entails to take these exams under the time pressures they set and have definitely never sat one.
March 1, 2021 at 9:21 pm #612473Couldn’t agree more.
March 2, 2021 at 11:43 am #612644After all that – half an hour before the end of my exam, all my workings on the scratch pad disappeared!! This rule is ridiculous. The people who came up with it have a lot to answer for.
March 2, 2021 at 3:10 pm #612693I totally agree! Its not practical at all to a use scratch pad. I was told not to have a scrap paper just before my exam. I was allowed it for my PM exam in December. Is this something new or is it just for tax exam?
March 2, 2021 at 3:28 pm #612700I believe it is the new rule starting from March exams. I will be doing FR on Thursday. Its a headache!
