Hi guys,
I am finding it difficult to distinguish Analytical skills with Evaluation skills. I read all BPP and ACCA guide on these two. But again I am confused. Can someone explain them in detal? Many thanks.
I think you need to consider the sub-skills:
Analytical – Investigate/Enquire/Consider
Evaluation – Assess/Estimate/Appraise
If you look at the D18 exam, for example, there are hints e.g.
Q1(a) … analysis skills in investigating and considering information from a range of sources … (look for linkages between items of information to draw out the “key factors” which need to be discussed in response to the requirement)
(b) … evaluations skills in presenting a balanced and objective appraisal of the relevant information … (so don’t just look at the merits or financial worth of the proposal to acquire the hotel chain – but weigh up against any possible cons/downsides – and be prepared to express your reservations)
Thanks a lot, tutor.
