    Hello sir,

    Hope you’re doing great.

Could you please give me an overall guidance on how to prepare for the exam, the topics to focus on more? I’ll be self-studying and using the BPP Study Text / ACCA Study Hub in combination with the BPP exam kit.

Unfortunately, I’m not sure if I will have time to watch the free lectures for SBL as I’m working full time and will be preparing for the AFM exam as well. So, I would really appreciate any advice based around this assumption.

Just to add, I will resign in November and fully focus on my exams so I believe I would have enough time for revision and practice for both the exams. Having said that, what do you think about SBL & AFM combination? – I think I read somewhere that APM works well with SBL, but my PM exam was exempt so I’m not sure about that and I think my FM knowledge would be helpful here to some extent.

Thank you for your time 🙂

SBL and AFM have little in common. SBL and APM are closer.

If you can’t view tge lectures at least read our notes and as your time is limited I suggest that you don’t study a text book. This exam is orimarily based on application rather than knowledge so it is vital to do lots of question practice rather than accumulating lots of facts. If a question or its answer refers to a theory or approach thst’s new then that is the time to research it further in the text book or our lectures. Don’t get hung up on too much theory: start looking at questions from a common-sense perspective.

Thank you, that makes sense and sounds really helpful. I believe I’ll just go through the OT notes and move on to practice making my efforts much more productive. What matters the most is to pass!

One last thing, do you have a lecture on the pre-seen material that I can watch? I could not find them in the SBL lecture section.

No lecture, but for September 2023 we had a quiz to see if candidates have absorbed the material. This will be renewed for December when the pre-seen for then is released.

Oh, no worries though. I’ve understood that it’s the background information that you’d have in advance basically to just be familiar with the case study beforehand and to reduce the examination time. Nothing much to worry about except reading it thoroughly in time.
