guys am part qualified ACCA student with no accounting work experience,

i’ve heard SAP is useful to learn, I found a tutorial on it but am not sure which aspects of it i should learn, its a huge software.

Also please advice me which positions should i aim for, as i don’t like audit basically anything that involves presentations….

i have an interest in music industry but don’t know where could that lead, any suggestions?

It may be best to aim for roles which can offer a varied experience, ERP systems are good to have in your locker but once you have one you can talk about them in an interview which is good. If they have system A but you’ve used system B just say “although I haven’t used A I’ve used B which is also an ERP system etc etc.” So good on you doing SAP, as for what to do its hard as companies won’t do things the same way even if they both us SAP. So get to grips with it is more important than learning tasks on it inside out. Get a good grasp of the financial aspects & have a look of the CO variance accounting/reporting as it will give you something to talk about if you interview at a manufacturer.

I’m not sure where you are based or what types of jobs your going for but my I’ve always found experience will count more than exams and you need both on your CV really. You may have to take a lower paid accounts role to gain experience, my first role was on 10k P/A but I started doing accountancy without qualifications just my A levels. In the north west I’ve seen accounts assistant roles for the 16-22k mark.

I wouldn’t have a clue how to take accountancy into the music industry I’d just suggest getting as much well rounded experience as possible, the more you can have on your CV will give you job opportunities (recruiters don’t like taking chances, if the role asks for treasury they send someone with treasury experience). Also the more experience you have the more you can talk about in an interview or relate the job your going for to things you’ve done.

    Good luck
