sir i am having a doubt
a)Every 10th person is chosen randomly from each ward in a
hospital.
b)One person in ten is chosen from an alphabetical list of
employees.
answer for a) is given as stratified random sampling and b) is given as systematic random sampling
isn’t it supposed to be opposite a) should be systematic and b) should be stratified random sampling
this is from Kaplan test your understanding.
As I explain in my lectures notes and the lectures that do with them:
Stratified sampling is splitting the population into groups (in this case the groups are the patients in each separate ward in the hospital) and then choosing randomly from each group.
Systematic sampling is selecting every nth item (in the case every 10th). This is exactly the example that I use in my notes and lectures 🙂
oh got it, sir, I didn’t focus on the word “ward”
You are welcome 🙂
