Suitability Acceptability Feasibility
Can we use this model other than for evaluating/assessing strategic options. I mean is there any application of this model other than evaluating strategic choices. I don’t feel easy with the application of this model.
Thanks.
March 7, 2016 at 10:43 pm #304246It’s really only used for evaluating strategic choices to find the most suitable, acceptable and feasible.
Often, there will not be one choice that scores well on all of them – but that’s life. Something might be acceptable to stakeholders but is simply not feasible, perhaps because management skills or finance is lacking.
You have yo make the best decision you can – and people might disagree as to what that is.
March 18, 2016 at 6:15 pm #306994In the December 2011 Q2 (b), a company called iCompute was reconsidering 3 high level processes
and the examiner wanted us to evaluate the Suitability of iCompute’s current approach to each of these high level processes…Since the question required using an appropriate framework or model, would it be okay to apply SFA model and argue using the “SUITABILITY” bit of it only….??
OR
In order to use SFA, the idea chosen has to fulfil all the 3 (ie suitability, feasibility, acceptance)….??March 18, 2016 at 7:08 pm #306996NO. The examiner wanted you to discuss suitability only. If you began t talk about feasibility and acceptability, those parts would gain no marks.
The question is about outsourcing/in-house so the Harmon framework is probably best. The examiner said credit would be given for other models, but it’s hard to think of one that is as suited to this question.
March 19, 2016 at 12:25 pm #307057That means SFA would not be appropriate for this particular question ….??
March 19, 2016 at 1:58 pm #307069Not really. All it does is list suitability, acceptability and feasibility. Those are three headings for appraising a strategy, but the model itself gives no help in assessing suitability (or any of the other headings).

Cheeeers….
