Dear John,
What is the examiners policy on rounding differences.
I.E : My answer for a question where :
Yield Variance : 9901 F
Mix Variance : 5829 A
Examiner answer:
Yield Variance : 9898.69
Mix Variance : 5826.69 A
Would i get full marks for my answer or will i be penalized for this slight difference. As there is not specification in the question, does the examiner expect you to work with 2 decimal places or can i just round to the nearest whole number for neatness in calculations?
Thanks.
Unless the rounding is specified in the question, it is irrelevant (just as it is in real life 🙂 )
For unit costs, usually round to the nearest cent. For other things (such as your variance example), rounding to the nearest $ is fine and you will not be penalised.
