    Ho
How about rounding off the answers? In CBE section B – they usually do not give an options to choose from we have to write the answer: For example my answer is $10.85 but the actual answer is $10.98.Will it be marked wrong? As section B in computerized marked.

In section c it is human marked. Considering the same example – will it be wrong?

    Thanks

Where rounding will result in different answers, then either the question will specify the rounding (e.g. ask for it to the nearest $), or the computer will be programmed to accept a range of answers.

In section C, rounding is not relevant – it is your working that are marked, not the final answer.

(Are you certain that your answer of $10.85 is actually correct? The difference from the correct answer seems to be more than just a rounding difference. I obviously cannot check because I do not know which question you are referring to.)

Thanks a lot for replying. Its learning curve Question- how do e have to round off after we have the value of b( y=axb) .

And in section c, I am not very comfortable doing in excel- how about if i solve my question on the paper first and then i will copy my anser in excel?
    1) Do i have to show all my workings in excel?
    2) How do they mark the paper?
    Step by step marking?
    Format marking?
    3) is there any sample of questions on CBE where i can look at?

Although in theory you can be asked to calculate ‘b’ (and if so then calculate it to 4 decimal places), it has always been given to you in the exam (and I expect that it will always be given in the future).

With regard to computer based exams, you certainly must not solve the question on paper first – you will have nowhere near enough time!!

Your workings have to appear (just as in paper based exams) – but where you are creating formula in the spreadsheet (which is not Excel, although it is very similar) then the marker can check the formula and these are sufficient workings.

The marks in Section C are for your workings and not for the final answer. If you look at a past paper based exam, then at the end of the answers is printed the marking scheme – you can see how many marks there were for each bit of workings. CBE Section C questions are marked in exactly the same way.

There are sample CB exams on the ACCA website. Go the the ‘students’ section and look in ‘study resources’.

Also, In section C Do we have to show the calculations on the excel? Or we can calculate the answer using our own calculator and just write down in the excel?

    Thanks

You must show workings – read again what I wrote in my previous reply!!
