I want to know if the preparation for Sept 18 would change since the marks allocation to Q1 is 50 and Q2,Q3 is 25 each as compared to June 18 sitting Q1 35+25 , Q2,Q3,Q4 (any 2) 20 each. Would there be any additional requirements I should be familiar with?

Also, I couldn’t attempt full paper and scored 42 in June 18. What must I improve on to get on to the target?

Also, for Q1 audit risk I felt there was a lot to write and wrote too much I feel.
Please give me some advice and help me to crack this in Sept 18 exam.

The pattern of the questions in the paper does not alter the weighting of the syllabus areas. However, as there is no choice it is more dangerous to gamble and ignore an area.

Question practice is key. As you say Q1 is often long, typically containing lots of potential risks. Take that as a good thing as the question has provided you with lots of ammunition. (The hardest questions are the short ones such as ‘What is life?’) However, you must discipline yourself to stick to the time allocations implied by the marks. This might mean adopting a more succinct writing style, whilst still describing your points fully (no one or two word bullets please).

You will never be able to produce answers of the immense length ACCA does, but you should be able to cover say 75% of the points they make.

So, practice questions against time: reading, planning, writing all in 1.95 x marks for each section. Critically compare your answer to the model answer and identify serious omissions. Analyse why that happened.

Thank you very much. I shall adopt these methods.

Also, since P7 is now Strategic Professional, does it make any difference to the way we answer questions and the preparation methods as compared to previously?

No changes to AAA expected, though note question pattern is 50/25/25 with no choice.
