When do I know that resources and competences (threshold resources/competences/capabilities) or M model should be use and how can I apply it?

    Thanks!

Either could be used in the same circumstances. Model simply helps you to remember resources (mainly) and competences. The capabilities = resources + competences model is more sophisticated, pointing out the differences between resources (relatively easy to copy) and competences (more mysterious) and also the idea of threshold capabilities and capabilities for competitive advantage.

You can therefore make use of both together: M model to trigger ideas and the resource/competence model to analyse what’s happening.
