through this highly esteemed forum I wish to request to ACCA to make arrangement with second university apart from OBU to grant degrees to ACCA students. I am requesting this because OB is reputable university and can not lower its standards to grant degree to every one. So I request ACCA to make arrangements with some second tier university which charges high fees such as 1000 POUNDS (this should include mentor fee) but degree is guaranteed. Because many weak students are hanging in space with out ACCA or degree. They have no options. NO JOB. NO DEGREE. just F 1-9 is no qualifications. ACCA is organization with highly innovative approaches, hope it will find solution to this matter as well.
April 2, 2013 at 9:33 am #121271To be honest if you are able to pass F1-F9 and spend right ammount of time and put a lot of effort and follow the guide you should have no problems passing OBU. Nobody can guarantee the degree or it will be worthless in everyones eyes including employers….
April 3, 2013 at 4:16 am #121322@kvn618 and ACCA , Please consider few facts:
1. I am not suggesting to discontinue arrangement with OBU, what I am saying is to have two degree awarding universities on board. Thus candidates will have choice to submit thesis to which ever university he/she likes.
2. This arrangement with OB was started when there were very few students who opted for OB degree, since then now there is robust increase in students opting for this because there is glut of accountants in the market and so many students want to go for masters after bachelors. In my opinion one single university is not capable to take the load of so many students. Ponder to this fact: why there are so many Universities in UK? because there are so many students, could one university cater to the need of whole UK? No. In the same way I don’t have the facts but the number of candidates submitting the rap is equal to 25% of UK (accountancy/business) bachelor population (citation needed). Because students from whole world are participating into this program not just UK. One university does not have enough markers and structure to cater to this kind of volume. One university can not cater to robustly growing bachelor population from whole world.
3. To your apprehension that such degree will be piece of paper only I don’t think so, it may be for few people but those with good many soft-skills would be able to continue their life once out of this stuck up academic situation.
Hope ACCA would consider this suggestion, its not against OB it about expanding the infra structure similar to building more roads and hospitals when there is increase in population and economic growth, isn’t this logical? - AuthorPosts
