If the matter is material but not pervasive auditor will issue “qualified opinion except for”. My question is, is this always the case?
For instance, something like directors remuneration that is qualitatively material will also be a “qualified opinion with except for” or just qualified as it simply does not show a true and fair view.
There are three forms of modified opinion: qualified, adverse or disclaimer.
Qualified means ‘except for’. So, ‘I like all vegetables’ is an unqualified atatemenf, ‘I like all vegetables except for carrots’, is a qualified statement. It’s the ‘except for’ that creates the qualification.
