You can find ACCA’s answers to FAQs about remote on-demand CBEs here:
December 1, 2020 at 2:01 pm #597276Hello, I’ve read through the ACCA website, and it states that a 17-inch screen size is recommended but may I ask if I can take the ACCA remote cbe with my 15-inch laptop? For reference, I’m planning for F1, F2 & F3. Thank you in advance.
December 2, 2020 at 4:36 pm #597416Recommended means that – recommended – i.e. not mandatory. So if you choose to use something that turns out to be too small you can’t complain to ACCA about it. I suggest you attempt ACCA’s CBE specimens for F2/F3 in particular to see if you can cope with a smaller screen.
December 7, 2020 at 2:42 pm #598106Guys. I forgot to click “submit” in one of the pratical questions in sections B of A&A.
Do CBE exams save the exam automatically?
This is the standard exam done at a centre.
Please help urgentDecember 9, 2020 at 7:06 pm #598911Hello everyone,
I am sitting AFM on Friday via CBE. This is the first exam I take as CBE, so I have some questions, hopefully one of the people who went through this experience already can help me with some replies:
– there is no mention of a ‘Save’ option as regards the data we input in the Word processor and the Excel spreadsheet. Do we need to save our answers in any way or is our text saved automatically (ie we don’t need to do anything but write our replies). I am concerned that if I move to the next question for example, the replies for the preceding one will not be saved.
– on the ACCA FAQ link that Kim shared above there is a pdf guide on how the desk setup should look like for the exam. The guide says you are allowed with ”two pieces of rough scratch paper” ; is that really so? i thought we were supposed to use only the note pad in the software?
– on the ACCA practice platform for the CBE, the Word processor has a print button, and you can actually save a pdf version of your reply that way. I assume this will not be available in the exam, no?
Thanks a lot for your replies!
December 9, 2020 at 7:43 pm #598915Hi otacca, I can confirm that the answers are saved automatically (on word processor and spreadsheet). The schratchpad is not marked. It is better to compose your answer in Word processor/spreadsheet directly and edit as necessary.
I don’t knkw if you are allower paper, i did not dare to keep any on my desk just in case
I doubt tbat you will be allowed to print anything, exam workings are not allowed to be removed from exam hall in generalGood luck!
December 9, 2020 at 10:04 pm #598946Why does the FAQ mention something caled Finder in addition to OnVue?
December 10, 2020 at 10:08 am #599033Re paper – this is what it states in the FAQs (link in my initial post at the top of this thread):
“Can I use blank paper for making notes?
Students are permitted 2 sheets of blank paper which they must destroy in front of the remote proctor at the end of their exam.”
@riskyaccounting – Finder is part of your computer’s operating system software – it isn’t something to downloadFebruary 16, 2021 at 9:42 am #610602@Kim Smith
Maybe you have some insight here… Can the Irish variant LW exam be sat as a remote on-demand exam, or (should the world ever reopen) on-demand exam in a centre? I can only see that on-demand applies for LW ENG and GLO on the ACCA page. Previously I have been told that variant LW exams have to be sat in June or December in centre. However, when I try to book the LW Irish variant in centre for June, it is not available in any centre anywhere.
I have tried calling ACCA a bunch of times regarding this, and also sent several messages, but I either do not get a clear answer regarding the specifics around variant exams, or they contradict each other.
TIA,
KimFebruary 16, 2021 at 11:23 am #610616@KimR – I have made an enquiry but to the best of my knowledge only ENG/GLO are available on-demand and remote exams will not (yet) be available for June 2021 session, because centre-based exams have only be cancelled, to date, for March 2021. I will let you know when I receive anything more helpful – in the meantime, perhaps there is a college in Ireland that you can call? (They must have students registering for exams.)
Failing that – I have just looked at the sample Qs for LW-IRL for June 2020. You might want to consider whether you couldn’t in fact manage LW-ENG with just a little bit of additional work on areas of difference (if you have already started your studies). That way you also have the advantage of not having to write answers for Section B.
I know of someone who studied for LW-ENG but accidentally entered for LW-GLO and not only passed but was a prizewinner (!) I’m not suggesting you look at GLO because that would be more different.
February 16, 2021 at 12:04 pm #610618@KimR – I have another suggestion – that if you use Twitter you could post your query to @ACCAireland and @ACCA_UK – as sometimes the visibility of the query encourages a reply.
Let me know if you have any luck contacting a college in Ireland – if not, I’ll try to enquire again.
February 16, 2021 at 12:13 pm #610619@Kim Smith – many thanks for your reply. I have in fact started looking at LW-ENG as I was told by one of the tuition providers that most students here study the ENG version, but just look at the extra bits for the Irish version – so that’s all well and good. It is just the awkwardness of the exam bookings that seems to flummox.
I will check with the exam centres here to see what their take is. I have tried calling the Irish ACCA office as well, but no luck – will try that again and Twitter,
Thanks for your help and I will let you know if I get through to one of the colleges or centres regarding this.
February 19, 2021 at 4:45 am #610901hi, i just wanted to know whether desk clock is allowed in cbe exam? last time i messed up with the timing because acca provided the desktop clock which was small to follow and it was counting reverse.
thanksFebruary 19, 2021 at 7:58 am #610923As it is not one of the items on the “Desk set up” advice (see page 6 of the guide referenced “View our guide” multiple times from the webpage referenced at the top of this thread) I recommend NO. You could:
1. Practice questions with a reverse timer between now and the real exam
2. Wear a watch with a suitably large face that you can glance at
3. Mount a “kitchen clock” on a wall where you will see it.February 27, 2021 at 10:04 am #611951@ Kim Smith – ACCA has confirmed only GLO/ENG are on-demand, Irish variant is centre based June or Dec. I am now able to book it in June for in-centre. ACCA said that if there is another lockdown they will likely have the exam as remote session.
I have another question about the exam set up – what about mouse mats? These are not pictured specifically in the picture, but most mouses do not work -properly- without one?
TIA
February 27, 2021 at 10:20 am #611952There is no mouse mat either in the video https://www.accaglobal.com/ca/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exams/on-exam-day.html but I have read students saying that when they start the exam and show their desk they also have to show under their mouse mat and that their mouse mat is clearly plain. I suggest it would be better to have mouse that does not need a mouse mat – there are plenty around these days that work perfectly well on any flat surface.
February 27, 2021 at 12:00 pm #611971Many thanks for your reply. I do appreciate your point about mouse mats – however, this is not so easy to get where I live.
Thanks anyway

I have an additional PC in my “room/office” where I’ll be taking my remote exam which will be switched off, disconnected and put out of arm’s length. Will I be allowed to leave it in the office? Thanks!
February 27, 2021 at 12:41 pm #611981Why risk it and potentially waste time? If switched off and disconnected I suggest you put in another room.
February 27, 2021 at 12:44 pm #611982Thanks, Kim. Will do!
February 27, 2021 at 5:07 pm #612016Bit of a silly question, but on exam day what link do you actually go to? I have done the system test
February 27, 2021 at 5:41 pm #612020@sarfarazakram – if you are sitting remote ON-DEMAND CBE – e.g. BT, FA, MA, LW, you get a TOKEN and I presume that comes with instructions – see here for FAQs https://www.accaglobal.com/ie/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/on-demand-cbes/remote-on-demand-cbe-info/remote-on-demand-cbe-faqs.html
If you mean Remote SESSION CBE starting w/c 1st March, you are on the wrong post. See this post https://opentuition.com/topic/remote-invigilation-march-2021-acca-recommendations
This has a link to https://www.accaglobal.com/lk/en/help/remote.html where you will find a section “How do I start my remote session exam?”March 24, 2021 at 8:26 am #615098Does anyone not receive the token to download the exam software? I am taking exam on Friday and today I still didn’t receive token …. Wrote to ACCA but of course it takes them time to give an answer and I am afraid I still don’t have token on exam day :-ss The exam cannot be rescheduled unfortunately.
March 24, 2021 at 11:02 am #615118@mainai92 – please see here https://www.accaglobal.com/ie/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/on-demand-cbes/remote-on-demand-cbe-info/remote-on-demand-cbe-faqs.html
“When will I receive my exam token?
You will receive your exam token 2 days before your scheduled exam date. To ensure the integrity of our exams, we cannot provide this before this time. Please only contact if you have not received your token 24 hours before your scheduled exam start.”
March 24, 2021 at 6:29 pm #615146Hi Kim, Thank you. Waited whole day today and still nothing, I will contact ACCA tomorrow as my exam is on Friday. Hope everything goes well.
