In a question company input 100 units and extract output of 60 units and variable cost incurred in the middle of the process so my question is whether we multiply variable cost by 100 units or 60 units ?

(No information given about losses that when loss occurred in the process)

If there is no other information given in the question, then I would multiply by 100 units.

What does the printed answer do?

Actually in the original question, variable cost incurred at start of the process so I thought what if we incurred this cost at middle of the process.
Thank you sir for your answer!!!
