In the F5 OT lectures, there’s a lecture on time series ad regression analysis, yet I can’t find this topic in the syllabus or the book. We don’t need to know it do we?

There is no point in watching the lectures without using the lecture notes which go with them.
If you read the introductory paragraph of the relevant chapter, it is made clear that although time series and regression ARE in the syllabus (they are assumed knowledge for Paper F2), the examiner has said that in future she will not ask calculations on either of them. However, she can expect you to understand the idea, which is why the lecture is there.
