I received my exam result recently and got the same marks for F5,F7 and F8 which is 49%.Is it common for someone to get the same mark for all 3 of their attempted papers?I requested for an adminstrative review since i find it very odd that i could receive the same mark for all three papers.Does any one know if this is common and not an error?

August 2, 2015 at 11:36 pm #264815You have wasted your money, if you got 49 your paper has already been marked twice, as all marginal papers are double marked to ensure accuracy. The review won’t remark the papers just check the addition of the identified marks for accuracy. Nothing else will be done.
3 papers is a big commitment, at 49 for each the risk is your not dedicating enough time to any of them and skimming. I did 2 at a time until now which my last P paper.
August 3, 2015 at 2:12 am #264830Its not about the marginal marks though.I mean the possibility of 3 identical marks, example if the marks were 46,49,48 where there were all variable it would make sense but the probability of receiving all 3 marks the exact amount no matter marginal or not,for example 42,42,42 how high is the possibility,im not saying its not a coincidence only asking could there be a once in a blue moon accident of an exam mark for a paper being entered for all 3 papers or is it common to receive the same mark for all 3 papers.

With regards all 49’s actually there is more chance of that than all 39’s for example. The reason being that when you get 46+ they will remark and try and squeeze a couple more marks for you. So originally your three papers might have been 46/47/48 and after remarking you got a few more marks in each but not quite enough to take you over the 50.
August 3, 2015 at 10:04 am #264994You seem to be focusing a lot of effort in thinking it’s an error in marking. If the administration review finds your papers had been incorrectly added up and you get a pass out of it for any of them I will stand corrected.
I would start studying for the resits, you may even want to consider splitting them across September and December to improve your chances.
Listen to the last post before this one what they say is true. Remember your papers were already marked twice so they won’t have started at 49 thats just where they ended up.

I bet they have your result posted on the wall near the coffee machine as for student with the toughest luck in this session.Speaking seriously now – if there is a matter of 1 mark between pass or fail your exam will be most likely reviewed by Examiner himself. If he didn’t give you 50, no one will now.
