Hi Mr. Widberg,
Hope you’re fine.
Could you please give some tips on how to utilize the reading time?
In the mock (timed conditions) I ended up attempting all questions (98% you can say) using the 1.8 minute per mark rule though not with perfection but ended up scoring alright overall. However, I believe that I botched the reading time a bit and with a better approach things could get a bit easier.
I read the overview of all the questions (ignoring exhibits) and the requirements to not be surprised had I not read them at all. Then I moved on to question 1 (consolidation) and started reading and highlighting the exhibits but was able to only go through half of the total exhibits for the question.
I’m not sure if this is the best approach or maybe I botched it because I blanked a bit and was attempting this just before sleeping (peaceful Sunday’s are rare).
So I just need a bit of assurance on the approach and would definitely love any improvements that you can recommend.
Apologies for making this long but this might be the last time I’d be bugging you, at least for SBR. Not sure if I’d find you on other P series lectures. So I must also let you know that I’m so grateful for all of the help. A BIG thank you!

No separate reading time (abolished a few years ago)
1.95 minutes a mark.
No point in reading Q2 until you’ve finished Q1.
🙂
May 31, 2023 at 3:35 pm #685618Whoa, thank God I asked this. So, disappointed with the ACCA online webinar host when I asked if I can highlight in the reading time and they just said yes. It was obvious from my question that I had no idea about it.
Thank you for letting me know. I spent 6.5 hours on two mocks setting timer for the reading time. No point in the doing the mocks again I guess. Better off going through the questions again (the more the better). Don’t wanna be exhausted for the exam day.
Would you yourself have a look at at least what’s in the next question (not read it), just to have an idea what’s next to come? For overall planning?
June 1, 2023 at 7:21 am #685763No. Just do Q1 in 30×1.95 minutes then Q2 in 20×1.95 minutes etc.
June 1, 2023 at 2:04 pm #685812Noted. Thanks!
