Is the any accounting difference between retained earning and profit?
Yes, profit (normally) refers to the surplus achieved during the current year and that amount (less any dividend) is added to the retained earnings figure brought forward to give us the retained earnings figure to carry forward
Retained earnings are therefore simply the accumulation of all the previous years’ profits that have not been distributed to the members by way of dividend
