Hi Everyone
Anyone else planning to submit their RAP in November 2012 ? I am going for my first attempt and doing Topic 19: The financial and operational consequences of a merger between two organisations or of the acquisition of one organisation by another
Haven’t seen any other posts from people having chosen this topic, but I’m trying not to let that intimidate me! I had my first Mentor meeting on Monday and am giving myself 6 weeks to complete – that way I have a week or two back up time.
I’ve registered on the OBU website (you have to wait 15mins to receive your password) and printed out the guidance notes from the ACCA. Fee is £155 – ouch – but much cheaper than doing a degree from scratch.
I’m in an annoying position where it doesn’t matter what grade I get on my RAP i’m still stuck with a 2:1. It’s very frustrating though as when I started the ACCA they used to take into account F1-F3 in which case I would have had an average mark of 66 and with an A grade project – would have got a 1st. Would have been nice to have something to aim for. But I’m going to do my best as I do want to pass 1st time so getting cracking with the writing on Saturday. Would love to hear from others out there working away for session 25 – I couldn’t find any other posts.
Good luck to all the Period 24 people who I think get their results next week – must be very exciting and nerve wracking at the sametime. Hope lots of people post how they get on next week with the results, and that people in session 25 also post. 🙂

September 21, 2012 at 1:15 pm #79249@Kitcat…..How annoying it is to me to see u say u can complete your RAP in 6weeks. Its not impossible though, but i’ll advise you drop your Job if u have any, drop all acca exams for December if you have any, any parties if you go to any…. and move to a secluded place for utmost concentration if you must.
Anyway, but I hope you cant just leave all these to produce a high quality RAP.
Also dont be discouraged by others not choosing your topic, as this can always be used to improve on areas of your weakness.
I am expecting my Period 24 results on wednesday, an can only wish myself a pass of any grade to get my 2.1.September 21, 2012 at 1:24 pm #79250I have a pretty full on job – but no exams and a quiet period planned for the next few months socially. I completed my ACCA when I received my final results in Feb (member now – yay!!).
I am and have always been a crammer. Most of my ACCA exams I studied for a few weeks only – no longer (although pretty intensively). A couple I managed in a few days – by some miracle I guess. I never attended college or anything. I have already got my detailed plan laid out and I think part of the challenge is writers block. That’s what I experienced in the Spring and just couldn’t get started -that’s why I’m doing it now. But now I am confidant I have a clear framework and hopefully the research and writing will flow (she says optimistically!)
All the very best of luck for next week – a 2:1 is still great and you should be very proud that you got high enough average in your exams to guarantee that class. If you don’t mind me asking which topic did you choose ?
Best of luck
September 25, 2012 at 12:37 pm #79251i’m planning on submitting my RAP inNovemeber 2012 and my choice of topic is #2. I’m looking for someone working on the same topic.
Do you know anyone who is?
September 25, 2012 at 3:35 pm #79252ignore awesomemealfred. Although it needs hardwork, with a fulltimejob, and a healthy social life, I did mine within a few weeks, just by putting in the odd hour here and there.
There were people who told me not to attempt 4 acca exams at a time. Again with a fulltime job, and going our regularly, and gymming, I managed to do 4 exams in each sitting and pass first time.
Impossible is nothing.

Always Imposible is nothing….. But hey good luck or tough luck.
Whatever you choose, everything has consequences. passing four papers is not as passing all four well. Neither is the same as knowing all in careful detail. Do what you like but be ready for its consequnces… Good luck to everyoneSeptember 25, 2012 at 4:09 pm #79254Fair enough, your right I sacrificed achieving award winning marks, by attempting many. To me it was all about speed, get the exams done asap and then move on to the big money jobs.
Good luck.
September 25, 2012 at 5:23 pm #79256One more thing, when i watched the OBU video on ACCA sites, i laughed when i heard people who completed the rap in 6mths, and then a year. I said to myself… I will be done with this in 2mths (just like the person who posted above). But alas, i took me 1yr.
this was only bcos i saw in the process this is no childs play.
6mths is a reasonable time….but three months budget time on a full or part work is a little too optimistic. cos even after a year, i still had to dot some i’s and cross som t’s.
But hey dont be discouraged, u still can be an exception to the rule.I can only pray I pass tommorow (wednesday).
Cheers.September 27, 2012 at 12:19 pm #79257AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

Hello Kitcat, like you I would like to make the Nov 2012 submission. I also finished my ACCA in Dec and made member in Feb, work full time and hope to finish in by the end of October. I am aiming for a 2 1 but I need to get at least a ‘B’ to get it so I have a lot of work to do.
Maybe you can give me some pointers? I haven’t registered on the OBU site though, I guess I should do that right away.
I chose no 8 topic, already have the financial info all I need to do is develop a work plan and start writing. Already met with with my mentor (early August) and he hasn’t stopped asking to know what progress I have made 🙁 Workload at the office has not been helpful, but I intend to put in more effort to completing before the end of October.
Hopefully with a group of people working towards the same goal, I hope I can get this done with in time for the Nov 2012 submission.
Congrats to all Period 24 graduates. Hope mine comes soon too 🙂
Cheers

HI guys .. i am writing on the popular topic 8….lol…typical me, playing safe.. i am so discouraged cos a lot of my friends failed in period 24. i was at the lecture held on RAP by the moderator of these projects in March and the pointers he gave was
a Referencing is of utmost importanceb if analysing a financial statement, they don’t just want this increased by a % or a reduction… they want u to investigate why such occurred… they also do not want maybes, probably and could be….. they want u to give definitive reasons referencing ur conclusions
c use of IT skills must be demonstrated
i have been on mine for a while over 3 months *coversface* cause its just so demanding… im expecting a baby next month so that must explain why am so lazy, ill will be submitting nov though and hopefully pass and forget about it. thank God i get a 2.1 regardless of any grade..
please for those who got theirs and unfortunately didnt make it, can u pls paste some of the comments made by moderators to help us understand better their expectations? u can cut out ur name and acca number… thanks

October 30, 2012 at 11:23 pm #79266How is everyone getting on ? I’m a bit stressed! Meeting 1 with mentor done, Meeting 1b with mentor last week (decided on a bonus one to help me stay motivated!) and Introduction complete. Been doing my references and bibliography as I have been going along.
Made loads of notes for when I get to the SLS but can’t seem to wrap up the Information Gathering section. I know clearly what I want to put in there, just can’t seem to actually start writing it! I’m hoping once the writers block passes it will just flow. Have two weekends set aside for Part 3 (results etc) and I’m going to finish the SLS during the evenings after the last weekend. That’s if I can stay on track.
I’m desperate to get this finished and submit it – but I really want to pass first time too!!!!!!!
Really hope everyone else is getting on well and are further ahead than me 🙂
November 2, 2012 at 5:14 pm #79267im also in in. doing topic 8 and P3, P4 and P7 .this has been the most stressful semester ever but im almost done with the RAP. really hope i can pull this off. All the best everyone:-)
November 2, 2012 at 8:44 pm #79268litimus -you are a wonder! P3 and RAP ok – I would do that – I thought P3 was a piece of cake. P4 and P7 as well ? nooooooooooooo hahahahha
If you do it – that’s a massive achievement. Good on you for trying.

November 22, 2012 at 8:42 am #79271OMG – I completed the submission last night with 3 minutes to spare!!!!! I was very relieved to get the email back stating it had been accepted and would be marked. Results day March 27th!
I wasn’t happy with my SLS – only had 1850 words as had to rush like a crazy person, and I’m really worried about my referencing on the financial statements. Every table I have included in the main RAP has a reference, but I’m just not sure if I’ve done it right – I really hope so. I also forgot to put the wordcount on the title page – hope this isn’t something they can automatically fail you for. I was below the word count by 5 words but I didn’t write the number on the front.
Way more stressful than exams – if I fail I think I’m going to cry – don’t want to go through all that again.
How did everyone else get on ?

Thank god the project is now out of the way. I did the common Topic 8. Since I am assured of a 2:1 degree, I knew I could do this particular topic but it was hard work. Just as I want to take a break after the RAP, I only find myself facing the exams, doing P2 and P3. Definitely, the most stressful semester of the lot.
Anyway, all the best to all those who submitted their RAPs for period 25.February 27, 2013 at 8:38 am #1188071 month to go everyone!!
When I submitted I felt quite confident but feeling a bit nervous now. Keep thinking I’ve failed – didn’t get the SLS right or messed up the references – any and all doubt creeping in!
Can’t believe it’s already been 3 months since we submitted – where does the time go ?
March 25, 2013 at 8:37 am #1205412 days to go!!!!!! OMG !! Who else is really nervous ?
