Dear Sir
In question number 1 of December 2007
GBC -Level of Total occupancy
While calculating this – it has been stated that the same number of non fare paying senior citizens travelled on GBC buses and number of fare paying passengers per were given as under
Eastern = 44
Southern = 64
Western = 20
Hopper = 44
If the bus capacity is 80 per bus and occupancy level is 60% then
1) Total passengers per bus comes out 80 X 60% = 48 , out of which 44 are paid passengers and 4 being free passengers.
2) In ACCA solved answers they have worked out
Zone Fare Paying Non fare paying Total Occupancy
Eastern 44 8 52 65%
This I could not understood ! Kindly explain. How come same number of free passengers as stated in problem !
Deepak
Note 10 tells us about fare-paying occupancy for 2007: 60% for GBC
That means that the fare paying occupancy for 2007 was 60% x 80 = 48 (as you calculated)
We have no occupancy % for 2006, but the free passengers are the same for both years.
2007: Free passengers = 48 – 40 = 8
2006: Total passengers = 44 + 8 = 52
Really sneaky. Don’t worry about it. The current examiner does not really go in for this sort of trickery.
