Hello sir,
Could you please advise how interpret that kind of questions:Assess the recent impact of disruptive technologies on A plc
Professional skills marks are available for demonstration evaluation skills in estimating the impact of the business environment. What would be your approach, plan? Do I need to pay more attention to the first line question or second?
June 6, 2021 at 1:12 pm #623439It is important to look at clues given in the professional marks paragraph. Here it is looking for evaluation skills which implies either numerical evaluation and/or a list of pros and cons (depending on the information in the question).
Evaluation is also implied in the work ‘assess’. Eg if you were assessing someone’s performance at work you would look for good and bad elements.
In this question I would expect some opportunities from disruptive technologies and some threats. You would also be expected to be able to identify the most significant effects and deal more fully with them.
June 6, 2021 at 2:32 pm #623451In this particular question there were two Exhibits one Position report of A plc and another Exhibit Press Article -Disruptive technologies. So student will be looking at some opportunities/threats as you suggested in second exhibit mostly. I also had similar approach to this question. However, to my surprise the answer to this question was comparing position of A plc to competitors in terms of revenues, investments, customers loyalty…
I am still clueless how to interpret exam questions
June 6, 2021 at 4:43 pm #623475Well, opportunities/threats almost always depend on a company’s current position. So, if competitors were using advanced technologies then it is probably urgent that the company thinks about doing the same…..if it can. Again, its position might make that difficult eg if it has little expertise or spare cash to invest in these technologies.
It is important to look at all exhibits first as a single requirement often uses information from more than one.
s for interpreting exam questions, I suggest you initially use a common sense approach ie if you really had to write such a report to your boss what would you put into it? Only then decide it any models or frameworks would give help and credibility to your proposals and check again that you are addressing the requirements accurately.
