Hello,
I finished watching the video lectures and reading the notes of activity based costing, after that I practised the 5 mcqs in which I scored full marks. After that I went on to September 2016 F5 exam to practice Activity based costing question, and I could not solve it.
So I want to ask, is it because I did not read the BPP study text? Are the video lectures and notes available here enough? Can I then ignore the study text and directly move to the exam revision kit?
Does this method work for you all? I am exempted from F1 to F4 so I am doing F5 without solid grounding in accounting.
Please help. 🙂
January 22, 2017 at 4:22 pm #368892Firstly, the only question on ABC in the September 2016 exam was the MCQ number 15. You should have found this easy after watching the lecture but if you say what problem you have with it then I will try and help (but ask in the Ask the Tutor Forum).
Secondly, you must practice questions from a Revision Kit published by one of the ACCA approved publishers. They are full of exam standard questions (together with answers and explanations) and practice is vital (as we repeat throughout this website). The questions are split into topic areas.
If you watch our lectures and practice questions from a Revision Kit, then you do not need to use a Study Text. The lectures are a complete course and the pass rate of students watching our lectures and using a Revision Kit are substantially higher always than the overall ACCA pass rates.
January 22, 2017 at 4:27 pm #368894Thank you Sir, yes I eventually managed to understand the answer to MCQ 15 using the ACCA exam answers document, however I will ensure to post my future academic queries in Ask the Tutor Forum. 🙂
I have Kaplan Exam revision kit F5 valid for exams from September 2015 to June 2016, do you think I can use it? I don’t think much could have changed since that time?
Beyond F5 I will get BPP materials as I heard they are far more comprehensive than Kaplan.
Thank you for your support Sir. 🙂
January 23, 2017 at 7:03 am #368920Your current revision kit is fine as far as the syllabus is concerned. However the format of the exam has now changed (with more MCQ’s and fewer long-form questions) and so it would be as well to get a current edition of a Revision Kit as it will have questions in the new format.
