    Hi

I had a look at Q1 Jun’09 RLH Hospital, I was surprised that in the question 4 dimensions did not include the usual dimensions like : customer satisfaction and innovation

Is the point of this question to show that these should be used or is it the case that with the balanced score card an organization can pick whichever 4 dimensions they want?

I was thinking that for the model to be called Balanced Scorecard only usual 4 dimensions of customer, innovation, efficient and financial dimensions need to be used?

    Thank you

Well, the question says that the horpital uses ‘a’ balaned scorecard approach ie they have made up their own rather than using Kaplan and Norton’s. Their’s has to be used in part (a).

For part (b), you are then able to criticise (and praise) their persoectives. For example, it’s not clear if they have much on innovation and learning nless that is within clinical.

indeed there is a difference between using an “approach” and Kaplan Norton model,
