Hi Mike. Hope you’re doing well. I am self studying from the study texts and I was unsure about qs4. It’s stated that it will test current issues but I have no clue what exactly does that stands for. The scope of the questions seems too wide to cover. Should I consider skipping this question altogether and focus on getting the other two qs right or are there easy marks to gain from qs 4 and you wouldnt recommend me from skipping it? If so, what are the possible sources from where I can prepare for that last question?
Thanks.

Opting to avoid question 4 – if it were me doing the exam, I would try my very hardest to avoid question 4. Where question 2 or 3 is on a fringe topic like “the accounting for the premium payable on the redemption of consignment stock in the hands of a foreign government” – only then would I look again at question 4
Hope that helps
June 1, 2015 at 9:24 am #251254So your advice to me would be not to fret too much over question 4 and the time that I could spend studying the various technical articles should instead be spent on revising other standards that are more likely to be tested in qs 2 and 3?
June 1, 2015 at 6:57 pm #251602No! Don’t put words into my posts! I said that, if it were me, I would do my best to avoid question 4. I didn’t say that I would not even prepare for it!
You’ve still got 7 clear days( not counting today nor the day of the exam) to get prepared for P2! Read all the answers to questions 1 (parts b and c), 2 and 3
And read all the technical articles too! You pick and choose at your own risk and you make decisions such as “I’ll ignore current issues” entirely at your own peril!
June 3, 2015 at 2:16 pm #252467Dear Mike,
just to not open a new topic i’d ask you here. Is BPP study text from 2012 (stating up to June 2014 exams) good enough for June/December 2015? Or it is seriously outdated?
June 3, 2015 at 4:37 pm #252568Integrated reporting is in since 2014 and IAS 14 Agriculture of course
Otherwise, not much that I can remember
