How to value goat kids born in the farm?
For the adult goats, the bpp answer says about comparing the mkt values to the cost of raising goats!
But obviously we cant compare the cost to mkt value cz its bound to be different.
Pls helpThnx
April 12, 2014 at 2:37 pm #165125This is a highly specialised area with whole sections of technical libraries full of livestock accounting books
You may as well have asked “How do you count the inventory in a turtle farm?” or value the trees in a tree nursery spread over 50 hectares with different ages, species, varieties, condition, exoticness
Your P7 examiner (believe me here) is NOT going to ask you how to value kids in a goat herd. Should you ever find that you are faced in real life with such a problem, take the traditional auditor approach of “Look at last year’s file” and see what was done (and how it was done) last year

But can u also address the second part of my qs regarding cost vs mkt value comparison?April 13, 2014 at 3:14 pm #165204I thought that my previous post DID answer it! It’s a highly specialised area (and I’m not a specialist in this field!)
You are correct of course – how much does a kid or a lamb or calf cost? Market value should be straight forward but, cost?
Sorry, I cannot give you a fuller answer. Maybe if you posted in the general forum you could find a student with practical experience through their work
