While adjusting the retained earnings balance,why do we only add back the expense of yr 2005 and not of yr 2006?
The 2006 adjustment will be reflected within the comparative figures for 2006, but the opening position for retained earnings also needed adjustment. So add back the excess amount of the expensed items up to 2005 when compared with the amounts which should correctly have been amortised.
