Good day.
It a bit unclear for me the exact responsibilities and reporting relationships of project owner, project sponsor and benefits owner. I have read BPP study text as well as OpenTuition notes but still not 100% sure that I could identify these persons in real scenario.
Is it possible to explain this to me – probably with examples?
I am not at all sure there is any significant difference between project owner and project sponsor. If you Google it then there are different definitions and some say they are the same. If anything the sponsor secures the funds and bears the risk whilst the owner is in charge of it (and could have a project manager to manage day-to-day activities).
Benefits owner: whilst the project manager is responsible for delivery of the outputs of the project a benefit owner is looks after each benefit to ensure it is realised.Usually the benefit owner will come from the area where the benefit impacts most.
Thanks.
