I’ve passed all of the F papers but haven’t sat a ACCA paper for 2 years now. My current employer said that they’ll pay for my ACCA exams, I’m wondering whether or not to sit the P1 exam in June or September. I’ve sat the P1 before in 2014 but didn’t pass, is 3 months sufficient time to study, revise and prepare?
Thanks
March 2, 2017 at 11:04 pm #3751973 months should be plenty of time but what is crucial is how you spend that time that is given to you.
When used right, you could get the best result in the world with just 3 months study, but it all comes down to how you use the time.
Slack and leave things late and you’ll find yourself under extraordinary pressure and you don’t want to do that to you future self do you?
Spend at least one hour a night at it til the last month and then up the work rate again. With 4 weeks left you should have plenty of technical knowledge then it’s all about practicing how to convert that knowledge to marks with the right exam technique. You might as well go into the exam hall knowing nothing if you have not mastered the art of how to answer the questions at hand because you end up with the same result – a fail. How to master the art of answering the questions? Practice as much past questions as possible and learn from the sample answers as to how to construct a better answer afterward. Past exam solutions are a bit too long but they at least show you how to structure your answer and also give you a breakdown of the marking scheme. If you don’t figure out how to actually answer the questions correctly then somebody who has done far less work than you and has less detailed knowledge could stil out perform you because they know just enough and crucially had the righ exam technique. You don’t want that either right?
Anyway enough rambling from me. Good luck.
