    Hello Mike

Im looking at the following past paper questions (ques 1) from acca’s website:
    June 2013
    June 2016
    June 2017

All 3 questions require the use of analytics however in june 2013 approx 12 ratios were used while in tbe other 2 years , 6 ratios were used.

My question is , how do i know how many ratios to use?

How many marks are available? And when you say “12 ratios were used ” are those 12 compared with ratios already given in the question – for example, where ratios are given for the industry and you have to calculate and compare the equivalent ratios for a single entity?

And are the “while in tbe other 2 years , 6 ratios were used” 6 ratios actually pairs of ratios where information is given about 2 entities and you are required to calculate equivalent ratios for both and then draw a comparison?

It would be an unusual question that asked for ratio calculation worth more than 6 marks and the general rule of thumb would be to work on the principle of .5 of a mark for each correctly calculated result so 1 full mark for each pair

    Does that help?
