How should we approach the practise for Paper P7? I’ve been told that the kits are sort of “misguiding” and I should only refer to the past exam papers and the examiner’s answers!
December 4, 2011 at 7:25 pm #90404No, the revision kit answers are not misguiding. They may be misleading in terms of length and depth. there is no way on this Earth that any student is going to achieve an exam answer as comprehensive and focussed as a revision kit answer. Nor, if they did, would they then be able to repeat the exercise over 3 more questions.
So, accept that the revision kit does NOT represent what even the best prepared student could achieve.
Now, as an alter native, think on the printed solutions as opportunities to learn additional points which you can add to your armoury and draw on in case of need.
Even then, I personally query the style of printed written solutions – INCLUDING LISA’S.
I believe that paragraphs are too long and too laboured – they go into excessive depth chasing one point.
If you work on the basis of one point per paragraph, one paragraph per point, and you need 100 of them ( for a perfect script! ) then, having taken account of planning time ( 50 minutes for a 100 mark exam ) that will leave you approximately 1.3 minutes to write a paragraph – say 2.5 lines AT THE MOST
Hope that helps
and good luck next week
