I am using BPP for the first time because that’s what my college is issuing out this time, based on the ACCA’s announcement of BPP as the sole platinum content provider.
I feel I miss Kaplan though. I found Kaplan much easier to comprehend and generally much easier to follow through.
Besides, each Kaplan study/revision kit has an e-access code so that you dont have to carry your text books wherever you go…i just found out that with BPP if you need such online access of the materials, you have buy a separate package for it.
Needless to say, I think I was better off with Kaplan, but my hands are tied

Am using BPP ,
March 24, 2011 at 12:28 pm #80305I am using BPP
March 24, 2011 at 1:40 pm #80306I have used both BPP and Kaplan before and definitely preferred Kaplan because I find it’s much easier to understand. However, I purchased BPP for F6 because it was available sooner than Kaplan was and I wanted to get started on my studies. I must say I’m finding it quite enjoyable this time around. So much so that I’m thinking of switching to them for the rest of my studies.
March 24, 2011 at 2:01 pm #80307It’s hard to reply this question with confidence, which text is better.
Kaplan books contain more examples, from simple to complicated, which helps u to prepare for computation exam like F6 better.
However BPP contains all the theory that u might need for exam, and material is presented in accordance with syllabus, so u can easily find this or that information.
While kaplan doesn’t cover all the theory.Language of kaplan is somehow more digestable, it’s easier. But BPP isn’t too technial as well, just it contains all the theory , very often in excess.
Me personally, i can’t make choice between those two, that’s why since first session i’ve been always using both BPP and Kaplan and so far didn’t consider it as a waste of money or time. By using this approach , at least i’m always sure that i have access to all material .
And finally one thing to mention is that, i believe it’s much easier to study from videos rather then from books.
That’s why try to get as much materials as possible. There are various resources available now (like EXP : https://www.theexpgroup.com/expand/) and try to take the most out of OT videos and notes.March 25, 2011 at 8:31 am #80308AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

i prefer KAPLAN…please is there any chnage to 40% FYA
March 25, 2011 at 11:08 am #80311can u preciese about this 40% FYA. It is awailable for which kind of expenditure?
According to the data that i studied in F6 so far , there is a first year allowance of 100% on low-emission cars (CO2 =<100 g/km) . It is not pro-rated in short accounting periods.
Tried to find application of this allowance for other items in 2011, but failed.March 25, 2011 at 11:43 am #80312both books have some sort of methods which can be helpfull for some students and for not.
i mean BPP is good for some students and KAPLAN is good for some but i found both are really good so i use both.March 25, 2011 at 12:12 pm #80313Dude….sounds like you’re using the old text. There’s no longer a 40% FYA only 100%. Think u need to upgrade. A lot has changed in F6.

Thanks Stasi…what other things changed?
March 25, 2011 at 12:20 pm #80315@larouch download the latest F6 notes from opentuition
you will see there all tax rates and Financial Act 2010 which will be examined in June 2011 exams..it is a bit silly to ask students here to post all those changes..
March 26, 2011 at 11:09 am #80316Yeah, we each need to be responsible and know what we will be examined on for June by checking relevant sources. 🙂
April 4, 2011 at 10:43 am #80317I feel BPP far better than Kaplan because BPP gives extra knowledge which is worth knowing because after all we are preparing it for life so we can use them in our field when it is demanded it is not at all about exam but for profession ………kaplan is good if you only think from exam point of view………but if you want to get in to the depth of a subject than BPP should be good.!!……….opentution is the best no doubt…….for the calculations and arithmetic stuff ….but it also important to understand why one is doing such calculations………..(BPP).
April 6, 2011 at 12:11 pm #80318am using kaplan because it is so easy to understand, great examples, easy language …thanks kaplan

i try to use both BPP and KAPLAN. but kaplan is my first choice very easy to understand with lots of practice questions. BPP is very indepth though. maybe a little bit too much material.
