First of all congrats to all the people who passed and good luck to the rest of us in June ’12.
Flunked with a 42. Actually due to work constraints all I did was do some reading from the text on the key topics as per the tips, read through some mocks and all of the tech articles. So I had no reasonable gounds for expecting a pass.
However I would appreciate guidance from the people who have passed with flying colours [with marks in the 70s and above] as to how one should go about studying for a good pass mark in P5. I’d just like to clarify I didn’t do F5 due to exemptions so I didn’t have the prior knowledge and should I try to start from F5 this time round?
Thanks
February 13, 2012 at 11:52 am #94111Hi all, congratulation to those who passed. I passed with 55%. Could have got more if I could understand the first question. This is the lowest mark I got compared to all the other papers. But atleast completed all papers in first attempt. And as it is said, ALL WELL THAT ENDS WELL. Am now an affiliate.:)

February 13, 2012 at 5:42 pm #94119thank God now affiliate. conquered this exam with 50 without q1’s 19marks.
special thanks to my chat mates you guys are brilliant. to those who didnt pass please make use of the open tuition chat sessions to discuss and brainstorm with likeminded students. you will be amazed what difference it makes to your profile.
it saddens me the large number of students that complain about exam difficulty yet as a build up to the exam preparation they dont come forward to meet bright minds in chatrooms to prepare well for exams.
good luck to those who didnt make it, please dont give up!

failed again((( and again with 43 marks.
congrats to those who passed. wish i were with you 🙂February 15, 2012 at 10:03 am #94125Hey,
I am very happy as I passed on first try with 65% and was sure to score less. I was having problems in the 1st question not fully completing it and knowing some errors as well as 3rd question. Am an affiliate and couldn’t be happier… Insanity trap is avoided…
Exam tipps: Never underestimate ACCA Professional exams. Recall old stuff only when not sure about it. Else try to understand and “play” with knowledge. Never get nervous because of colleagues or course mates. And in the end, think positive. ACCA is also about mental strength and character, but without enough studying it’s always difficult. Minimum should be 50 of all exam questions of BPP revision kit, else don’t go.February 15, 2012 at 12:14 pm #94126Hi, congrats to all who passed! Unfortunately its my 2nd attempt with 46 fail. Well, evevryone has its personal circumstances preventing from final PASS whether its family or work so we will get there!
I wanted to know if anyone can recommend a good teacher for P5 in London. I am a part time student because work full time and also I am a mum of 19 months old. Also to see progress of the revision, how do you mark yourself? Do you make a selection of Qns from revsion book and then follow the marking guide? Giude is quite unclear for option papers I think.
February 15, 2012 at 1:41 pm #94127Hey,
I passed my P5 with 53%, my third attempt.
I shouted and cried when I got my result, because I am now ACCA affiliate !!!Thank you very much for opentuition of all the posts regarding the exam techniques. They are very useful.
I have studied as much as my first and second attempt (which were ended up with 39% and 38% respectively). So, for those who sit for P5 in June 2012, stick with opentuition, it will help you guys fulfill your dreams 🙂
February 16, 2012 at 3:50 am #9412870, for me, very good for me. I’m even not sure what P5 is. But I tried to use my other knowledges in the exams.
February 16, 2012 at 1:30 pm #94129First time pass 57.. should have got more but that first question had me round in circles a bit.
You really need to bring knowledge from other areas into this one, its like P3 lots of common sense/business sense needed too.. you need to be able to comment on the theories and apply them to the situation given not just quote back the theory from your text. make sure you have done P3 first, and remember it is a wide syllabus drawing on F5 assumed knowledge ( which I didn’t have as I had an exemption). Thanks OT your lectures in this particularly in the computational areas helped me through this exam !
Affiliate now.. no more study ever….February 16, 2012 at 4:55 pm #94130Having just seen the global pass rates I am not surprised I failed with 36%.
The story so far: BPP question day for June 11 57%, actual result 46%, for Dec 11 64%, actual result 36%. Is it the tutor, me, both, the examiner or the marker that created a 28% shift? If it’s me, how did I manage to pass 3 P papers in one sitting? I’ve got 4/5 P papers so I don’t believe I am thick but I do believe I don’t get this examiner and what he is testing or trying to prove.
My tutor was shocked when I let her know. I wasn’t, as I struggled to get to grips with what had been set and the risk question was very tough. That said, I have looked at the model answer and it’s just as confusing. Not only is it far too big with too many tangents – that may allow for scope but it’s down to the markers judgement anyway – but it’s as crazy as the question. I want clarity, much as I do in the real world.
P5 is officially the toughest option – should I sit it for the 3rd time or try something else which I will ultimately not use in my job?
A very well done from me to those of you who passed. Commiserations to those who did not but now it’s decision time…
February 16, 2012 at 6:29 pm #94131Guys i need advice on wat text to use for P5, I used Kaplan for Dec and i thot i had grasped everything but when i got in the exam i felt Kaplan ddnt give enough explanations on most things hence i knew i failed and fail i dd.
Please advise, this is the only paper i am left with and want to clear it in June.
February 16, 2012 at 6:29 pm #94132My advice to those who didnt pass is please follow the examiners reports, and all his guides so you can have a share of his thoughts. again, have a strength of mind to approach the paper with an open mind. please ensure you provide a logical thought process in your delivery, take the marker on a journey of sound advanced-performance-management train of thought. you dont need to know the concepts in depth but show/convince him/her you know what you are talking about and is well fitted to the scenario/question asked.
never give up, better the devil you know than the angel you dont know. good luck to all.
February 16, 2012 at 6:48 pm #94133wat books were u using?

Hello,
I used Kaplan for two P5 sittings and I failed both. All the previous papers I passed with ATC textbooks with no problems (except one resitting for P1). So for June’12 I definitely will not use Kaplan…February 18, 2012 at 3:10 pm #94137@nataliaru86 said:

I have never used ATC before.
February 22, 2012 at 5:01 am #94139I am sitting P5 this sitting. Any suggestions on study methods or what else do i need to cover besides the text(am using BPP), trying out pass year questions, re-learning some F5 stuff, and technical articles?
