Am so delighted to pass this paper. I’d thought it would spoil my result but I passed it despite the change of exam format. I couldn’t imagine doing this paper again – what will I read?

Something is very, very wrong. I got 49 last June but failed with 34% this time. This was my most confident paper so far but I did worse than before and even P4, which I expect to fail anyway. ACCA should sack the examiner.

The examiner was even praised for the well-balanced exam, which I think is B….

For those who pass the P5 exam with good marks, can you share with us what’s are your techniques in answering the exam questions? For instance, did you always answer the discursive questions with a super long essay?

Please is there any way to convince ACCA that there should be a re-mark for P5..Even after reading the answers i was sure i passed..now results are out and i have 42…there is something definitely wrong…how can we complain?..what do we do?..The markers in my opinion didnt have enough options cause it was really a lot of theory..please lets all go on to the site and send e-mails..maybe they will listen ..

There is a theme going on here – a lot of people who didnt expect to pass it have got through easy – I expected to pass this exam very easily and i got what seems to be a common number of 42%!! I have sent my review off today but how do we make a stand and get ACCA to remark P5 – this is clearly incorrect and something needs to be done!!!!
It is not like we have just started out with ACCA and after sitting 14 exams you get a feel of if you have passed or failed and I should have passed this with at least 65% and I have checked my answers against the examiners model answer – all very similar with all calculations and workings for costings and wacc exactly the same!!!
This should be like a product recall on a car – maybe ACCA are the new TOYOTA!!!

I feel what u’re saying wacko2408..got 42 also…i have read and reread the answers–dont see anything different except written in my own words..i dont know whayt to do!! really feel cheated..how can you know within yourself that you passed? and yet unable to prove it..this is not the only exam i took..but its so confusing?..did the computer miss some pages or what?..do you think we can send mails to ACCA CONNECT OR EXAMS? (when website is better) Maybe they can pass it on…
I know judging from what i wrote that i should definitely pass..was even expecting range of 70’s..how can this be?…I am seriously not saying it cause i failed..infact if i had gotten 55 would have still been preety suprised!!..pls mr watt s.p? do something!!

jodukwe – I think ACCA have messed up big time!!! I was also expecting between 60 & 70% – I have posted my review although that wont show that they have either given me someone elses mark OR have missed some papers being scanned.
Contact me direct and anyone else and we can make a stand together and make our voices be heard!! Surely Mr Watt cannot get away with this mess!!
The pass rate has also dropped from June 2010 44% to 35% in December – what is he trying to achieve??? Also the syllabus is changing for this next sitting – woo hoo!!!

I flopped. 34% after i got 32% in a previous attempt. I have never failed an exam in my entire life, let alone fail the same exam twice! the first time, i was not very well prepared, but i have sat previous exams including acca unprepared and still managed to pass. This past paper was a bit easier than the previous paper but somehow i managed to get similar marks. Am distraught. Am mad. If I dont get 60% and over am going to change careers!
