Hi sir,
Hope you’re doing well.
Incase of limited seating availability in exam centres we end up with a paper based exam how should we approach calculations then.
Because from what I understand in computer based we use excel for calculations.
Kindly, clarify.November 25, 2021 at 3:34 pm #641614From where have you heard that there might be paper based exams?
All the exams are now computer based.
November 27, 2021 at 1:28 pm #641792In one of the articles while booking for my exam .
And sir one more question is it a necessity to use the scratch pad or will we be given papers to do rough workings like we were given in the on demand cbe applied knowledge papers ?
And should we retain the workings in the scratch pad?
Do we have marks for workings also?November 27, 2021 at 2:08 pm #641807Paper based exams no longer exist. All exams are now on computer and there is a scratch pad available on the computer (you will see it on the practice CBE exams available on the ACCA website).
You are allowed to use your own paper for rough workings but you cannot take them out of the exam centre – they will be taken in and destroyed. (If you are taking the exam remotely because the exam centre is not operating due to Covid restrictions you are allowed 2 sheets of scrap paper but they must be destroyed in front of the proctor at the end of the exam.)
For section C questions your workings that are input using the word processor or spreadsheet are marked. Rough workings on the scratchpad or scrap paper are never looked at.
For section A and B questions, no workings are ever marked – the answer you input is all that is marked.

And sir there is no lecture for big data?November 28, 2021 at 9:22 am #641849No, there is not a lecture on Big Data at the moment – I will record one when I have the time.
However since there cannot be calculations involved, what is written in our free lecture notes is sufficient. If anything in the chapter is not clear then ask and I will explain.
