    Dear examiner and students,
I wrote the F7 paper this dec 2010 and was quite well prepared having done past ques and revision but i faced the horror in exam when i realised that i had done barely finished Q1 and Q2 when to my horror only 1 hr was left for exam to be over.
To cut it short i only managed to attempt the paper for a total of 70 marks.
So plz i kindly need some real solid and tested advice from the examiner and the students here to plz advice me the strategy to complete all 5 Q’s in time and how to leave out nothing.i will be very humbled for any kind advice and suggestion.
    Thankyou

    Hassan !

First of all, you are aiming to pass, ok solid pass, if u wish. Secondly, I am surprised when you say within 2 hours, you just did first 2 questions having good past practice as you said.

Anyway, if you want to pass, within the first 3 questions, you should aim to get easy marks first.

Let me tell you what type of marks are on offer in the paper:

Easy Marks, e.g. Putting cost of sales in COS matrix in workings
Consistency Marks, e.g. Even if your COS figure is wrong, you ll probably get half a mark for placing it Income Statement and subtracting from revenue.
Method Marks, e.g. wrong rights issue calculation but placing the wrong figure in SOCIE and Balance Sheet

So these sorts of marks are easy.

Regarding time management, I would suggest:
    35 mins for Consolidation,
    35 mins for Published,
45 mins for cash flow or interpretation,
and then the remaining 65 minutes on Q4 and 5.

You can tweak (what-if analysis) the time for first three questions and then see how many minutes you have for the last 2 questions.
