Hello everyone, I failed the latest attempt of RAP, the marker’s comments on the areas failed in RAP were:
1. Understanding of accountancy/business models Fail
Reasons for fail and advice for improvement:
You need to explain the models, and their limitations, you are using in more depth6. Information gathering and Referencing Fail
Reasons for fail and advice for improvement:
Whilst you have made an attempt to reference your work you need to think more carefully about the positioning of the references in your text. If you place a reference at the end of a section or paragraph it implies the entire paragraph is taken verbatim from that source: is this what you intended to convey? If so this is also problematic as you should be writing the project in your own words. Please see the guidelines on how to reference your work and then apply this to your project. Your tables and charts also need to be referenced.I understand I had to cut short on the explanations of models with the word count pressure, but I worked so hard to place numerous references to ensure I was not found guilty of plagiarism and unfortunately that is the reason I was failed in the part. Kindly help me on how to tackle this, if I am discussing the facts and figures taken from the annual report should I not refer it ? Also, if is there a maximum/minimum numbers of references that may be placed ? An example would be really appreciated.
Secondly, what about the resubmission ? Considering the areas I have failed in, what changes are to be made in the resubmitted RAP ? Should I just rephrase and remove some of the references and add more to the explanation or there are more changes I need to make to the RAP ?November 10, 2012 at 7:38 am #106485Thank you smoke, but I do have one more question . .
… Owing to the active participation in international fairs and exhibitions, the export marketing expenses recorded an increase of 143.97% over the last year. There was also a minor increase in other income of 7.97% over the last year, which included a sale of scrap worth RS. 30.53 million in FY2010 [FY2009: RS. 17.98 million].
(Notes 26 and 29, NCL Annual Report, 2010)
Am I doing it wrong ? Although I only took the figures from the notes in annual statement but how else can I refer to that other than the way done ? But it really does feel like I have taken the whole extract from the annual report which is not the case ..November 27, 2012 at 12:26 pm #106487Thanks a lot smoke, much appreciated.
