hello
i am sitting for p7 this dec and i am facing some problems regarding the marking scheme
i am not sure how much to write
for example, lets say the audit procedures are for 4 marks
and in the suggested answer it says 1 mark for each well described audit procedure
and the suggested answer will end up giving up to 16 different points
does the examiner expect me to just give 4 well explained points to score full marks? or should i give more?..because im worried that the examiner may think my answer isn’t well explained and may give me 0.5 marks for each point
or would that be a waste of precious time?
i am really confused..please help.
thank you
December 4, 2015 at 8:33 pm #287662Get a piece of A4 in front of you and a book / magazine / brochure / letter
Get hold of someone who is prepared to devote 2 minutes of their time to help you.
They are to tell you when to start and when to stop
What?
Copying with no thought from the source document to the A4 page and you do that for EXACTLY one minute eighteen seconds
How much have you managed to copy down?
I await your response!
December 4, 2015 at 9:08 pm #287678It’s 34 minutes since I wrote! I was expecting a response within 2 minutes – 5 at the very most!
WHERE ARE YOU?
December 4, 2015 at 9:10 pm #287679You’ve missed your chance for this evening! I’m closing down now. If I get time tomorrow I’ll give you the rest of the advice. Otherwise, good luck next week
December 5, 2015 at 6:47 am #287719hi i wanted to see the response to this but seeing there is none i tried it too and for two minutes i managed to write down 3 quarters of the page, whats next
December 5, 2015 at 9:02 am #287759That is IMPOSSIBLE!
There is no way on this earth that, in 1 minute 18 seconds, (2 minutes in your case), that you can write any more that 3 lines. 4 is the absolute maximum and that was a student that had BIG handwriting
Do it again Hazel and make sure this time that someone times you for EXACTLY 1 minute 18 seconds.
And please don’t tell me that you wrote 3/4 of a side of A4. That extrapolates into 67.5 pages in three hours
December 5, 2015 at 12:40 pm #287823My sincerest apologies Sir.
i tried it and wrote 3.5 lines
i have read most of your responses on other posts and you have suggested this method a few times.
i am assuming the point of this exercise is to practice discipline in writing and i have to move onto the next point after a maximum of 3 to 4 lines
but what if those points that i wrote makes little to no sense?
i’m wondering whether it would be logical to come back to the same question after finishing all the other parts of the exam paper and write more than the 4 points allocated to the ques.
so i’m asking whether it would be a waste of time?..will the examiner not look at my extra points after my initial 4 points?
i apologize if my question seems all over the place
its just that i’m panicking a little
December 5, 2015 at 4:56 pm #287907“but what if those points that i wrote makes little to no sense?” How can that be?
“so i’m asking whether it would be a waste of time?..will the examiner not look at my extra points after my initial 4 points?” – if you’ve written four and they’re correct, valid, relevant and all score a mark each …… why would the marker want to look at more?
4 marks, 4 sentences = 4 paragraphs = 4 thoughts
1 minute 18 seconds is the WRITING time Minutes per mark is 1 minute 48 seconds. The missing 30 seconds is for READING AND PLANNING! You MUST plan what you are going to write. Otherwise your answer will be like your post ….. “i apologize if my question seems all over the place”
And don’t panic! It achieves nothing and can be positively detrimental!
Good luck next week
