In simple words,what is the difference between projections and forecasts?
I believe that the difference is that a projection uses as a base historic performance and projects that history into the future.
A forecast may use but, crucially, may not use historic performance as a benchmark.
So a forecast could be pure guess work
Equally, a forecast could attempt to take into account anticipated change in market tastes, law, economic circumstances … in fact, a change in anything
