1)Goverment grants would be considered as economic or political factor??

    2) is there an issue if i classified the points under different categories than examiner model answer.

1 Either. Just like tax rates.

2 No. The classification is relatively unimportant. PESTEL is just a checklist. If you identify, for example, that the Government is going to offer grants that might present an opportunity for profitable investment. Whether you call it political or economic does not matter in the least. What matters is that grants have been identified somewhere.

    Hi Sir,

So is it unnecessary to make our analysis grouped under Political, economic, technology etc…. to gain the mark? ie the mark will be given if the points are relevant. Thanks.

I didn’t say that you should not use PESTEL. That is a recognised framework and its use means that you are not just making things up on the day.

What I said is that when using it, some items could come under more than one heading. If so, don’t worry about which heading you list it under – and don’t list the item more than once.

There is a limit to flexibility. For example, you are likely to cause comfusion if you were to list the effect of the Internet under Political rather then Technology.
