Sam born in 1945,His annual income only 47000 pounds.What his Personal allowance? can he elect for normal personal 10000 pounds allowance or 10500 pound.What is solution?
Since Sam is born in 1945 which is between the year 1938 and 1948, the standard higher PA 10,500 pounds is available for him. But you should notice that his annual total income is 47,000 pounds, which is higher than 27,000 pounds(the income limit for those who were born before 1948), so it must be reduced to normal PA 10,000 pounds. Calculation is as follows:
Standard higher PA 10,500
ANI=total income 47,000
less:income limit (27,000)
20,000
less:excessive@50% (10,000)
But the minimum of normal PA is 10,000 pounds unless the ANI exceeds 100,000 pounds.
