If there is a 20 mark question with 4 marks for calculation and 16 mark for discussion. How are the 16 marks distributed?
It would be unusual for there to be 16 marks for discussion these days, and if there is it would usually be split into more than 1 discussion part.
There is no rule as to have the marks are split – it depends on what is being asked. Usually they’re about 2 marks for each valid point.
If you look at the last page of the examiners answers to past questions you will see a marking guide which indicates how the marks are being allocated.
I was required to find material usage and price operational and planning variance for 8 marks, i have mixed adverse and favorable for e.g material price variance was 710 adverse i had 710 favorable. How many marks do you think would be deducted for this error?
I am assume that you are referring to the recent exam. I have not seen the question, and I have no idea how many marks you will get – sorry! You will certainly not lose many marks for getting favourable and adverse the wrong way round.
(It is irrelevant now anyway 🙂 )
Thank you!!
You are welcome 🙂
