Sir in March 20 Ecomma Qs, in examiner answer it is mentioned that

IAS 19 requires all past service costs to be recognised as an expense at the earlier of the following dates:
    (a) when the plan amendment or curtailment occurs, and
    (b) when the entity recognises related restructuring costs or termination benefits.

In June 19 Hudson Qs, in examiner answer it is mentioned that

IAS 19 requires such payments to be recognised at the earlier of
    a) when the planof termination is announced and
    b) when the entity recognises the associated restructuring costs associated with the closure of
    Wye.

Sir in both above answers , Past service cost is mentioned, correct?

In June 19 Hudson Qs, if I write the same answer as of March 20 Ecomma i.e

IAS 19 requires all past service costs to be recognised as an expense at the earlier of the following dates:
    (a) when the plan amendment or curtailment occurs, and
    (b) when the entity recognises related restructuring costs or termination benefits.

    Would this be correct?

Past service cost is recognised as an expense at the earlier of the date when a plan amendment or curtailment occurs and the date when an entity recognises any termination benefits, or related restructuring costs under IAS 37 Provisions, Contingent Liabilities and Contingent Assets. [IAS 19(2011).103]

So – go with Ecomma answer – but I suspect you won’t have time to get into that level of detail.

    🙂
