Hey everyone, i was wondering whether anyone has ever attempted the 5 papers from F5-F9 and passed them within 1 or 2 sittings. I have been wrestling with the idea of trying to attempt all 5 within 1 or 2 sessios but i seem to get mostly demotivating advice, i am confident that with the right attitude and discipline one can PASS (only pass no distinctions) all 5 exams in that time frame. Any thoughts?
March 19, 2019 at 11:35 pm #509748Hi @mrfukamachi,
I honestly admire your confidence and determination.
But to begin with, as per ACCA rules you cannot give more than 4 papers per sitting. That being said, that doesn’t mean one “has” to give 4 papers in 1 sitting.
Yes, you are absolutely right that with the right attitude and discipline one can pass all the 5 papers, however, one needs to also act wisely. I am not saying passing these papers in 2 sittings is impossible but for me, it is over committing yourself with a lot of burden and being somewhat over-ambitious. (Sorry, if you would find this demotiving but the intention is not to demotivate anyone instead recommend a better approach in passing the exams)
The Skills level Papers (F5-F9) are a level up from The knowledge level (F1-F3) and they are absolutely not to be taken lightly or misunderstood as being same as F1-F4.
I personally don’t recommend giving more than 1 papers per sitting or at the most 2 papers. The reason for saying this is simple – better chances of first time pass! One gets sufficient and appropriate time to focus, prepare and practice for their exam and also they can easily balance their studies with other commitments ( work/family etc).
I have seen the best of students suffer due to miscalculations in their decision making. Students over-commit themselves with a lot of papers and end up re-sitting either all or most of them. They get stuck in a vicious cycle where they have papers to re-sit alongside new ones.
On the contrary, the above is just my personal opinion…no one is forcing their decision on anyone else here!
If anyone wants to sit F5-F9 in 2 sittings it is their own decision. But in that case, being discipline won’t be enough! They will have to forget they have any social life…say no to friends/family…throw away their mobile phones…no wastage of time of any sort that means taking breaks just for food or water…. and in this time frame it will be just them with these books.
In the end, I am just wondering…is there any particular reason you wish to rush through your exams??
Let me tell you, even if you hasten in giving the papers there is still the 36months Practical Experience Requirement that needs to be fulfilled to get the Qualification (provided if you don’t already have past work experience).
All the best!
I hope that helps.
March 20, 2019 at 5:34 am #509774Two exams alongside working full time is realistic if you can commit all you free time to study – not much social life and no kids or other big responsibilities.
If you aren’t working, no kids and reduced social life then you could manage three.
But there’s more to qualifying than exams so I wouldn’t rush it, experience means more and studying slower will mean you are likely to understand and remember the content better.
March 22, 2019 at 3:33 pm #510083Passing all 5 skills exams in 2 attempts is possible. I have seen 1 student do that before. But, in my personal opinion, i would never recommend that. Simple reason, you cannot acquire sufficient knowledge expected of an ACCA qualified person in that duration for those exams.
You may manage to get ‘50%’ required knowledge and pass, but thats not enough when you get further into strategic professional level. Every exam from F5 to F9 has an advanced version in professional level and sufficient knowledge in previous one is a prerequisite for those exams. It would be too risky for your strategic professional level exams, as they are already very tough.
It would be wise to spend sufficient amount of time to acquire a good knowledge in F5-F9 exams to save yourself afterwards.Again, what you’re suggesting is doable provided the hard work is put in. But you should also consider the factors mentioned in this thread.
I hope this helps you in making a wise decision.
March 23, 2019 at 11:31 pm #510249I have passed F6 & F7 In One session and F5 & F9 in the next session, and my average ACCA mark for F paper is around 68. While working full time(40 hours week). So it’s definitely possible. and I was someone who failed miserably in school and didn’t pass enough exam to go to university.
If I weren’t working, I would definitely have done 3 F’s in each session, as I will have 40 hours a week more, easily.
I’m sure people will give you suggestions to slow it down, for sure they have their valid reasons. But don’t listen if people tell you it CAN’T be done, because it shows that’s their limit, not yours.
