I have started with the option paper P7. Havent attempted the compulsary papers. What are the tips to enable me to pass the paper
You can’t do the option papers unless you have either passed or entered for the three core papers!
Have you read the exam technique articles for P7 specifically, for ACCA generally (both written by me and both available on this site) and the two exam technique articles written by two members of the P4 marking team published in Student Accountant about 2 years ago?
There you will find almost limitless advice!
Do that and then, if you still need advice, post again
I have not done any of the core papers. It is optional which papers I need to do. I have registered for P7 in June sitting.
Now I’m confused! What you’re saying is in conflict with the ACCA’s website page entitled “Exam Progression Rules”
I answered your “tips for passing P7” in my earlier post
I thought doing any P paper in any order only came in with the September sittings – did ACCA change it?
As for your question, I did both together. There is a lot of overlap and I found it very helpful to do both together.
If you look at it that you need to understand the standards in order to do the calculation (or just discuss) in P2, it naturally follows that if you understand various IAS then it makes it easier to then know what to look out for when you are auditing them in P7.
I couldn’t enter for any of the optional papers up the april 8. ACCA says September before that is possible
Thank you both amc and Latoyah – that’s in line with my understanding too
