Hello, how are you?-hope you are ok!
I need your help, how do we treat a clossing debit balance on partner’s current a/c in the statement of financial position?
Hi Brian – I am well thank you. Hope you are 🙂
If I remember correctly, you are not taking F3. I mention that for the benefit of anyone else reading this, because partnership accounting is not examinable in Paper F3.
However, in answer to your question, in the Statement of financial position you list the capital balances, followed by the current account balances (and the totals for each).
Most of the balances (and certainly the capital account balances) will be credit balances.
If there are any debit balances on the current accounts then you list them in the same place, but as negative figures.
I hope that answers your question 🙂
yes it does, thank you very much!
You are welcome 🙂
