Participation can motivate employees by making them take ‘ownership’ of the task and increasing their commitment. In which of the following circumstances, however, would this not happen
A Participation is genuine
B The purpose of participation is made clear
C Everyone is allowed to participate equally
D Efforts at participation are maintained for a reasonable period
I really don’t understand this question, please explain to me about it.
Thank you
So the boss asks staff fro their input. They feel involved and pleased that their opionons are being sought.
A – Participatoin must be genuine. This means that the boss has to listen and open to being influenced by your input rather than ‘doing participation’ but ignoring what employees suggest.
B – the purpose has to be made clear. You need to know why you are being asked for your opinion.
C – Why should everyone participate equally.? Some might not have the qualifications. (This is the answer).
D – Temporary participation has a feeling of manipulation eg you are asked for your opinoin when the boss is confident that you will agree with him/her, but are left out for the difficult decisions.
