For partial goodwill impairment, why it sometimes take
total impaiment loss-notional goodwill
And sometimes take
total impairment loss× parent portion
Which one is correct?
To debit retained earning(parent)
Hi,
We take the parent’s share of the total impairment when the goodwill is calculatd using the full goodwill method, as the impairment belongs to both the parent and NCI.
For partial goodwill, the impairment relates only to the parent and so the full amoutn goes through retined eanings.
Thanks
Thank you
