Hi mike,
Could you explain why in chapter 4 example 5 Rima and Saule, why goodwill is included in working 3b even though the nci is valued on a proportionate basis please?Thank you Robert
July 21, 2015 at 8:31 am #261210That’s a good question Robert! I seem to remember having to amend the notes as a result of reading an article by the examiner that said that, in order to find the value of the subsidiary assets as at the date of part disposal, it is necessary to include within those assets the value of the goodwill.
But, now that you have mentioned it, I’m worried that the accompanying video treats the goodwill in the “old” way and maybe doesn’t include it within the subsidiary assets as at date of partial disposal
That’s something else I need to check on!
July 21, 2015 at 7:00 pm #261344Thanks for your reply. I’ll save you some time :)…….the course notes include goodwill in with the net assets at Dod in w3b.
Bpp on the other hand have excluded it for some reason :-/
Cheers robert
July 21, 2015 at 7:20 pm #261350Hi Robert, yes, I know that the goodwill is in there (I checked the notes after your first post)
What does the video say? That’s what I’m concerned about is the video because I imagine that the video is based on the pre-amended notes.
No matter (and don’t bother to reply unless, of course, you have something to add.
That’s come out wrong! You’re always welcome to post. It’s just that every time you post I see that my name is not the last one on the thread so I have to open it to see if it’s a matter that needs my attention.
If you don’t reply then mine will be the name shown last on the thread and that means I don’t waste my time opening it for no reason.
That’s also why you’ll see so many “You’re welcome”s from both me and John
Ok?
🙂
