December 13, 2010 at 4:23 pm #74757what did everyone write for each section of the speech?
December 13, 2010 at 4:36 pm #74758Hi. I also think it was a confused paper, didnt understand the requirements at all. And the case was long. I just wrote all the nonsense I could think of and couldnt write any names or refer it to any real events like enron.. hope that a miracle happens and i get a 50! all the best everyone

it wasn’t nighmare, but it was really hard! no stakeholders, no special theories of principles (COSO, UK CC). Last summer paper was completely easy! Waiting for results with some scepticism. 5050

in my opinion for question 1 with the absolutism and relativism question all you had to do was relate Shazia LOs situation to the train of thought what she would do if she took the absolutism type of thought and then compare it to the relativsim train of thought and what aspects she would take into account for it, as for the speech i know i would of got the proffesional marks for that, and in the question all you had to do was explain corp gove and how it would be a benifite to the counrty and examples on how zpt didnt do it, as for the reporting part i did the same explaind what should be done and how zpt didnt and how zpt as an example should encourage the intro of a corp gov to the country, for the institutional case i used reasons why and what should be put forth to the board of zpt from what the question asked it seemed to ask to put forth a case on behalf of the institutional shareholders and why you would intervine zpt, i might be way off track and i hope not or ill be resitting this again lol any insight on what others did

Paper was generally ok. Fairly straight forward questions, but as is always the case with papers like this, is the answer what the examiner wants to see?? Struggled with time management which was really annoying, first couple of question in q1 took ages and they weren’t worth many marks. Oh well, should be ok, if not June’s not that far away!

Does anybody know what does it mean to construct the case? The same thing was last summer in 2nd question but it was ethical case and examiner says that it was answered very poor. Probably because nobody knew what is asked) I asked all my friends – no result. Any ideas?Meaning in favour of

I sat in June 2010, got 42% and I think that paper was much easier than today’s. The requirements were really tricky and I wrote a load of bollocks in the paper. I completed every question, and I think I did ok in the professional marks too. The questions which I couldn’t answer. One was about the institutional investors. What the hell do you write for those 12 marks? I wrote a load of crap. Hoping to get atleast 4-5 marks out of 12. Then the last two parts of Question 4. Difficulty in embedding liquidity risk management in the organization? Again, I wrote whatever I could but I am pretty sure my answer is incorrect. Part (d) of Question 4 was again a tricky one. I think I did quite alright in question three about the advantages of Non-executive directors, conflicts of interests and threats to independence, and general contents of corporate governance. There was no one answer for part (c) about corporate governance. If you know what it is about, then you’ll be fine. In the case study, I was a bit confused in the last three parts. The requirements were a bit tricky. But I think I did well in the qualities of a sound corporate governance, and about internal controls and risks. But again, wrote plenty which made little sense. There is no negative marking but I hope I dont piss off the examiner. I was fairly confident that I’ll pass this paper last time around, so was well shocked when I got only 42%. I am not sure how well I’ve done this time. Hoping to get that golden figure of 50%.i am similar with you. first sit in June 2010, was sure i passed but failed with 43 marks. this time the paper was very difficult compared with the last one. institutional investors… damn. Q3 was rather good. and i attempted Q4 embedded risk as i have no idea on sustainability and environmental audit. so it was my second attempt for P1 and not sure whether it was last… but i hope! π

ya lets hpe its z correct approach….ya i didnt expect question for institutional investors as well… in its not my best performance.. due to time constraint
December 13, 2010 at 5:53 pm #74775How unlucky I am. I always have to face to the hard questions in every papers I took, so do P1 this time. The hardest one in the history of P1 examination. Try to give feedback to examiner with the hope he will consider when marking π

I would not consider the paper a difficult one however, timing was an issue – I needed more time. Question number one was very long and I was into my speech when the invigilator says “Stop Writing” therefore I was not able to finish it as that was the last question I did so there goes at least one of the professional marka for not ending… I hope for a pass even though I had more substance to write.

You know what, this time it was really really hard and let’s be honest we all expected thatafter the easiest one last time. The questions were long and the requirements were tricky. Let’s hope the examiner considers the overall results and pass the ones in the range of 47-48.
Last but not least, i screwed up a lot. I had so much to write and during the paper, i was like duhhhh.
Hope for the best. Remember 50 is 100. Best of luck to everybody out there.

Q1 was quite hard. I wasn’t expecting such a case study. Moreover, no ethical dilemmas, no ethical decision evaluation plus a lack of knowledge requirements.
It was a shocker!

I thought this was a pretty tough paper.
I had a hard time with question 2 which I did last, I was panicing and managed to confuse basic things which I knew by second guessing myself. :%
Praying I pass, really dont fancy retaking this paer!
