Both books are good for F9.. it is up to you which book you feel ease with..
    I did use Kaplan.,
Understanding of topics. practice and theory! Read Full book , paper pattern is changed, around 50% comes from theory. comments, advantages and disadvantages..
OT notes are available here. you can take help from video lectures also..

    Good Luck

    here is the link
    https://opentuition.com/acca/f9/
for theory read the topic and grab the concept..
there are also some points to remember like any assumptions made or advantages and disadvantages.. such things should be memorized..

and for tax effect.. what thing you can not get? Kaplan is good.. refer OT notes also.. if you do not feel ease then come here again and post your query.. you will get answer..
join F9 forum also, for online sessions.. they help you to better understand..

    Good Luck
